Moving Box Estimator

“How many boxes to pack up a two-bed flat?”

How many boxes of each size, how much tape, how many hours the packing really takes, and which van to book. Room by room, with a printable list you can tick off.

  • Four real box sizes with their actual capacities, not a single 'boxes' number
  • Say you have books and it shifts to small boxes — a big box of them is 30 kg
  • Tape, paper and bubble wrap, which are the three things everyone under-buys
  • A van recommendation that counts the furniture, not just the boxes
  • The loft and the garage on the list, because they're a third of the van

How it works

Three steps, then you're done

Add your rooms

Including the ones you'd rather not think about.

Say how much stuff

Be honest. Everyone thinks they're average.

Order the boxes

With a room-by-room list to print and tick off.

Nothing you type ever leaves your computer. There is no account, no login and no server. Switch your wi-fi off and it still works — that's not a promise about our policy, it's just how the tool is built.

Questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. Each tool is a single file. Double-click it and it opens in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox — whichever you already have. No account, no password, no software.

Does anything get uploaded?

No. Your numbers and files never leave your computer — the tools have no way to send them and no internet connection is needed to run them. You can switch your wi-fi off and they still work.

I'm not good with computers. Is this too hard?

The first thing every tool does is walk you through it in five short screens with pictures. Then there's a button that fills it with example numbers so you can watch it work before touching anything.

Will it work on my phone?

Yes. Email yourself the file and open the attachment, or drop the files in iCloud Drive, Dropbox or Google Drive and open them from there — then they're on every device you own.
